🔥🚒 OCTOBER IS FIRE PREVENTION MONTH!

🚒🔥

The Connoquenessing Volunteer Fire Company recently had the opportunity to visit Connoquenessing Elementary School to spend some time with the students talking about fire prevention, fire safety, and what firefighters do during an emergency.

One of the most important parts of our visit was giving the students a hands-on experience with firefighters and our protective gear. Students were able to see what a firefighter looks and sounds like when fully dressed in turnout gear and an SCBA.

👨‍🚒 Why is that important?

During a fire, firefighters can look and sound very different while wearing all of their equipment. We want children to know that firefighters are there to help them — not someone to hide from or be afraid of.

Throughout Fire Prevention Month, we encourage families to continue these conversations at home.

Practice your escape plan, know two ways out, check your smoke alarms, and make sure everyone knows where to meet outside.

A huge THANK YOU to Connoquenessing Elementary School for welcoming us and to all of the students for being such a great audience! We had a fantastic time sharing some important lessons with our youngest community members. ❤️🚒
