| Protecting Our Future. The Connoquenessing Volunteer Fire Company is proud to unveil our new logo—a design that reflects not only who we are today, but the history of the community we've proudly served for generations. One of the most recognizable features of our new logo is the oil derrick, a tribute to Connoquenessing Borough's rich petroleum heritage. During the oil booms of the late 1800s and early 1900s, hundreds of derricks stood across the Connoquenessing area, forever changing the local landscape and helping establish Butler County as one of Pennsylvania's most significant oil-producing regions. The discovery of the "Hundred-Foot" oil field in 1889 brought prospectors, drilling crews, and opportunity to our community, leaving behind a legacy of hard work, determination, and innovation. Just down the road, the historic David Renfrew Oil Rig still stands as one of the few surviving examples of the early steel derricks and belt-driven pumping equipment that powered this remarkable chapter of our local history. While those towering derricks no longer dominate our skyline, their legacy remains woven into the identity of Connoquenessing. By incorporating an oil derrick into our new logo, we honor the men and women whose efforts helped build our community and recognize the industry that shaped our borough's story. Our new logo represents more than a fresh look—it represents our commitment to preserving our history while continuing to serve our neighbors with professionalism, pride, and dedication. Proud of our history. Dedicated to our future. |
